From the U.S. Open Beer Championship website, July 9, 2019 – Breweries from Russia to Rhode Island sent in more than 7,000 beers representing over 130 different styles for the 2019 U.S. Open Beer Championship. The competition is the only one to include beers from professional breweries and award-winning home-brewers, with judges from England, Canada and the United States.

AthFest is an annual three-day event that showcases local and regional musicians and artists in downtown Athens.

The festival entertains on two outdoor stages and multiple indoor venues, and features artwork, crafts, and food from local artists, small businesses and restaurants. Its purpose is to celebrate art and music in the Classic City while generating awareness and fundraising for AthFest Educates, a nonprofit dedicated to the support of music and arts education for youth in Athens-Clarke County. Click here to learn more about Athfest Educates and its upcoming fundraisers.

This month Leon Farmer and Company welcomes Wild Leap Brew Co. from LaGrange to the Athens and Northeast Georgia market, where their finely-crafted brews will be available on tap and in cans.

Wild Leap may be young, but it has grown in leaps (no pun intended) and bounds since opening in January 2017. Housed in a historic downtown building that was originally home to Westbrook Service & Tire Co., Wild Leap is the first brewery in the city and features a tasting room, large event space, and outdoor beer garden overlooking a downtown plaza. Founders Rob Goldstein and Anthony Rodriguez left successful careers in Atlanta to make a reality out of their dream to open a brewery.
