2018 World Beer Cup

Every two years, a panel of more than 200 experienced beer professionals gather to taste and judge beer from nearly 100 style categories, awarding the best of the best in each category. This is the World Beer Cup.

The World Beer Cup, long considered the Olympics of Beer Competitions, was created in 1996 by the Brewers Association to “celebrate the art and science of brewing.” The Cup not only celebrates traditional and new styles of beer from around the world, but also educates consumers about the ever-evolving beer industry and encourages brewing innovation.

Savannah River Brewing, “Augusta’s Hometown Brewery,” is now available throughout Northeast Georgia.

However, Augusta has recently joined Georgia’s craft beer scene and in February 2017 became known as the home of  Savannah River Brewing Company.

Savannah River Brewing is situated in a former distribution warehouse off Fifth Street downtown.

Raise a Glass to Veterans

Each year on November 11, the United States observes Veterans Day, a holiday that honors military veterans of the United States Armed Forces.

Veterans Day celebrates the service of both living and deceased veterans, and is known in other countries as Armistice Day or Remembrance Day. The date, or more specifically, “the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month,” marks the moment that the Armistice agreement between World War I Allies and Germany went into effect, ending WW1 in 1918.

The holiday is one of a few military holidays celebrated in the U.S.
