Football Season Begins

image

It was an exciting weekend in in Atlanta, for NASCAR and Budweiser fans alike. Congratulations to Kasey Kahne for his Sprint Cup win at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

In other news, I almost cried into my beer twice this weekend. Thursday night’s NC State game against South Carolina was like a bad omen for what was to come Saturday. I don’t know a whole lot about football and I don’t pay attention to much outside of the SEC, but watching State get so close to a first down or a touchdown then giving it up for some silly offensive error… it was like watching the Dawgs play for much of last year.

OK State played well. I hate them by default, but they played well. And their school colors may not be ideal (orange?) but they do have a horse mascot named Bullet, which is awesome. As for Georgia? I hope they work out the kinks soon so I can go to a decent bowl game this year. I realllllllllly enjoyed the Sugar Bowl of 2008.

Back to the NC State game… South Carolina won, but not by much, and they didn’t earn it like they should have as an SEC team. Which is excellent news for the rest of us. I’m looking forward to the first home game of the year! Here’s to Saturdays in Athens!
