Beer labels have gone through many, many overhauls in design over the years. Budweiser is a great example of a company whose labels have continuously evolved with the times. Budweiser, in its 134 years of existence, has had 12 different labels, each redesigned a little more than the last to keep up with changes in language, laws, and design technology. This web page provides an interesting history in the evolution of the bottle label using Budweiser labels.
The original Budweiser label was first created in 1876, the same year of Custer’s Last Stand at Little Big Horn. At that time the majority of the label was in German because Budweiser has German origins. The label is actually two separate labels. The next label was the first to be created with one piece instead of two but otherwise had little change. From there the wording continued to evolve as well as the eagle graphic and overall design. I definitely recommend visiting the page to learn about the different designs and how each came about!
