Raise a Glass to Veterans on Veterans Day

Each year on November 11, the United States observes Veterans Day, a holiday that honors military veterans of the United States Armed Forces.

Veterans Day celebrates the service of both living and deceased veterans, and is known in other countries as Armistice Day or Remembrance Day. The date, or more specifically, “the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month,” marks the moment that the Armistice agreement between World War I Allies and Germany went into effect, ending WW1 in 1918.

The holiday is one of a few military holidays celebrated in the U.S. each year. Memorial Day, held in May, honors the service and sacrifice of those who died in service. Armed Forces Day, which is also observed in May, honors those on active duty.

Leon Farmer and Company recognizes and celebrates Veterans Day on a personal level. The company has been owned by three generations of veterans since 1956: U.S. Army ROTC instructor and Cavalry rider Leon “Sarge” Farmer, his son, Marine Leon Farmer, Jr., and his son, Marine and current company president Leon Farmer, III. Many of our current and past employees are also veterans.

On November 11, we will raise our glasses to the memory of veterans past and the honor of veterans present. Thank you for your service. Cheers!
