In 2002, Tom Fennell bought some land on a beautiful mountainside in Blue Ridge, Georgia.
Tom planted grapes to grow for wine-making, and while they were growing, he opened a business that sent him on frequent visits to Germany. During these visits, Tom enjoyed the local beers and friendly atmosphere of Munich’s biergartens. After a few years, the wine was ready, and Tom bottled his product for friends and family, but decided that beer would be a more exciting business venture, and could be produced and enjoyed much more quickly.
Fannin Brewing Company, named after Fannin County where Blue Ridge is located, makes great use of the fresh water and clear mountain air surrounding it to produce craft beer for North Georgia. Since 2012, it has expanded from a few taps in a few local restaurants to taps and 6-packs in multiple restaurants, bars, and retail stores all over Georgia and Tennessee.
